The settings page provides a number of options for customising the way your CIX Forums account looks and functions.
The first panel provides the basic tools for updating your profile and changing your password. To upload a mugshot simply click the Browse button and find a photo of yourself on your PC, then click the upload mugshot button to upload and save it as your profile mugshot.
Set my default home page: This allows you to configure your homepage so that it best suites your needs. The default is the “My Forums” page which lists all the forums and topics you are joined to with the corresponding number of unread messages in each.
Other options include :-
Show Flickr/Picture bars: This option turns on or turns off the picture bars found on forum pages and at the top of your user profile page if you have a Flickr account registered.
Flickr Account ID: If you have a Flickr account, you can enter the account ID here to display photos from your Flickr account in your profile.
Show my Flickr bar to: You have control over whether everyone can see your flickr bar, or just users in your friends list.
Show my recent posts to: By default your profile shows your most recent posts in open forums on your profile page. You can restrict this to just users in your friends list, or you can hide this feature completely by selecting to show them to “Nobody”.
Show my friends to: By default others can see who you have on your friends list, you can restrict this so only your friends can see, or so that nobody can see.
URL embedded replacements: CIX Forums replaces certain url's to embed images and video's into messages. You can disable these features if you wish.
CIX Forums can notify you of various actions via email to your preferred email address.
Friend Requests: If turned on you will receive an email informing you when a user sends you a friend request.
Messages from: CIX Forums has a personal message system that lets you send 1 to 1 messages to users of the system without needing to know their email address. By default you will receive an email whenever you receive an inbox message. However you can limit these notifications to just when the message is from a user in your friends list, or you can turn them off altogether.
Forum Replies: When turned on you will receive and email alert whenever someone replies directly to one of your messages.
The upload history tab shows you a list of all the content you have uploaded to CIX Forums.
The sync options are for those using CIX off-line readers like AMEOL. The sync button will synchronise the CIX Forums read pointers so that everything is marked as read upto where you have downloaded to in your OLR.
The Sync button will not effect your OLR, the sync is only one way.
There are two additional sync options:-
Sync option on My Forums page: if this option is checked a sync button is added to your My Forums page.
Sync on sign-in: if this option is checked CIX Forums will always do a sync when you login. This will slow down your login process, and may take a minute or two depending on the number of Forums you are joined to.
