Friends

Friends are other people on CIX you decide to add to your Friends list. Once added you can find other discussions they are involved in by clicking on their username displayed in the list.

Starred

Starred provides a list of all messages you decided to Star when you read them. Clicking on the message will take you to that message.

Directory

The Directory contains all the existing Open and Closed forums (also known as conferences) that have been created since 1987. An Open forum can be joined without application to the Moderator, a Closed forum (conference) can only be joined by applying to the Moderator.

There are also Private forums, not included in the Directory, which can only be joined by invitation from the Moderator.

You can search the Directory by choosing a category or if you know the name of the forum (conference) by entering the name or part of the name in the Search box.

My Forums

My Forums helps you to manage the Forums you have joined. Its features include choice of how unread messages are reported.

Tags

Tags enable you to collect messages on specific subjects to one place. If you read a message that relates to a subject in which you have a long term interest in, select Tag from the menu bar above the message window and enter a tag name that you think appropriate.

For example a message about marketing might be tagged “advertising”. This tag name, “advertising” when you refresh the screen will appear under MY TAGS Clicking on it will reveal messages elsewhere on CIX that relate to this subject.

Top Tags are the current top most popular tag names being used in the Forum (conference) you are viewing at that time. In other words Tags are forum specific.

When 4 invites have been taken up the Plus4 Invite box is no longer displayed.
